Meet Wilson

Wilson graduated summa cum laude from Birmingham-Southern College in 1991, where he attained membership in Phi Beta Kappa. In 1994, he graduated summa cum laude from the University of Alabama School of Law, where he held the Charles W. Gamble Scholarship during his three years, was Senior Editor of the Alabama Law Review, a Hugo Black Scholar, and Dean M. Leigh Harrison Scholar, and was a member of the school’s National Moot Court Team. While at Alabama Law, he won the Law School’s

John A. Campbell Moot Court Competition, also receiving its Best Oral Advocate and Best Brief awards.

Wilson began his career by serving as law clerk to the late Hon. Robert B. Propst, United States District Court for the Northern District of Alabama, in the 1994 -1995 term. For the next ten years, Wilson was a partner at Sirote & Permutt P.C. and Burr & Forman LLP in Birmingham, Alabama, where he practiced in commercial and civil litigation. Since 2004, he has represented plaintiffs and defendants in commercial and consumer litigation matters in his own firms.

 

Wilson has a wide range of experience in handling complex civil litigation matters, serving as lead counsel in scores of cases including class actions, complex tax disputes, business and commercial litigation, and constitutional and civil rights cases. He has argued as lead counsel in numerous cases before the Supreme Court of Alabama and the Fifth and Eleventh Circuit Courts of Appeal, and is a member of the United States Supreme Court bar. From 2000-09, Wilson taught Class Actions, Complex Litigation, and other courses at the University of Alabama School of Law. He was a member of Class VII in the Alabama State Bar’s Leadership Forum (2007). Since 2010, he has served as Assistant Editor of The Alabama Lawyer, the bi-monthly publication of the Alabama State Bar, in which he co-authors the recurring article “The Appellate Corner,” reviewing all federal and Alabama appellate decisions. Since 2009, Wilson has also been recognized yearly in Mid-South Super Lawyers for his work in class actions and business litigation.
